Memories > Pictures
PROM spelled out on big chunks of wood, with pictures of you and your boyfriend/girlfriend all over every letter – anyone would adore this, right? Well I guess for guys like Nick, they wouldn’t be able to put the pictures up in their college dorm room because they’d “get a lot of shit for it.” While I can try to understand this, I will never fully be able to because I’m a girl. But what he said next was actually adorable. “I don’t really think I need to attach my feelings for someone in an object, my artifact would be my imagination – my memories of her.”

He explained how he doesn’t need physical pictures, because he keeps the most important ones in his head and the most important memories of her in his thoughts. He explained how he is constantly reminded of her just by everyday activities and conversations that take place, lighting up his memory with different times he spent with Alana. And he’s not trying to say that if you don’t take his approach, then you’re very materialistic, but his “object” that reminds him of her is just one that isn’t physical, it’s different, and it’s adorable.
